Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating an incident during which a man was attempting to burglarize a residence and was shot by the homeowner, an off-duty officer, in West Babylon early this morning.
A man was breaking into a residence located on 5th Ave. at approximately 3:30 a.m. The homeowner, an off-duty NYPD detective, shot the suspect.
The man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
