Incident: Man Arrested for DWI under Leandra’s Law following 2-Car Crash
Location: Intersection of Horseblock Road and Lidge Drive, Farmingville

Suffolk County Police yesterday arrested a man for Driving While Intoxicated under Leandra’s Law after he was involved in a 2-car crash with his 8-year-old granddaughter in the vehicle. 


Steven Casiano was driving a 2018 Toyota Camry eastbound on Horseblock Road in Farmingville when he crashed into a 2016 Nissan Altima that was travelling eastbound at approximately 9:40 p.m. The driver of the Altima, a 24-year-old man, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with minor injuries. Casiano and his granddaughter were not injured.


Casiano, 52, of 144 Storm Drive, Holtsville, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.


The 8-year-old was released to her mother at the scene.


Casiano will be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on December 1.



A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
