Incident: Elderly Man Killed in Crash with Transit Bus

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a Suffolk County Transit bus that killed an elderly North Babylon man in Babylon today.

 

John Gordon was driving a 2005 Honda Accord in the parking lot at 1 John St. when he drove the vehicle over the curb and into the westbound lanes of John Street. A westbound Suffolk County Transit bus struck the vehicle at approximately 11:10 a.m.

 

Gordon, 83, of Dulittle Street, was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Babylon Fire Department and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. Neither the driver of the bus, Roberto Montenegro, 47, of Copiague, or any of the passengers, were injured in the crash.
