Incident: Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash
Location: Westbound Sunrise Highway, approximately 1,000 feet east of Pond Road, Bohemia
Date/Time: Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 11:50 p.m.
 
 

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist in Bohemia last night.

 

Erica Edwards was driving a 2009 Nissan Maxima westbound on Sunrise Highway, approximately 1,000 feet east of Pond Road, when her vehicle struck the median at approximately 11:50 p.m. The driver of a 2015 Mercedes Benz, Kelvin Bonilla, witnessed the crash and stopped his vehicle behind the Nissan, which was then struck by a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle.

 

The motorcyclist, Daniel Acevedo, 42, of Long Beach, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. Edwards, 27, of Brentwood, Bonilla, 23, of Brentwood, and their two passengers, both adults, were also transported to Southside Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
