Incident: Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash
Location: New York Avenue, just north of East Lyons Street, Melville
Date/Time: Monday, September 3, 2018 at approximately 4:25 a.


Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a bicyclist in Melville early this morning.


Sean Spaulding was riding a bicycle southbound on New York Avenue, just north of East Lyons Street, when he was struck by a southbound 2012 Chevrolet at approximately 4:25 am.


Spaulding, 47, of Massapequa, was transported by Melville Rescue Squad to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, Thuan Van Hoang, 55, of Huntington Station, was not injured.


The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.  Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
