Incident: Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash
Location: Eastbound Long Island Expressway, Between Exits 48 and 49, Melville
Date/Time: Monday, May 11, 2020 at approximately 11:12 p.m.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a man in Melville last night.


A man was driving a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country eastbound on the Long Island Expressway, between exits 48 and 49, when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole at approximately 11:12 p.m.


The man, who has not yet been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.


The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
