Incident: Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash
Location: Westbound Sunrise Highway, 300 Feet East of 5th Avenue, Bay Shore
Date/Time: Saturday, March 9, 2020 at approximately 9:05 p.m.
 
 

Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Bay Shore last night.

 

A man was crossing Sunrise Highway, approximately 300 feet east of the 5th Avenue bridge, when he was struck by a westbound 2020 Nissan Altima at approximately 9:05 p.m. The driver of the rented Nissan fled the scene on foot.

 

The victim, who has not been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
