Incident: Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash
Location: New Highway, at the Intersection of Walnut Road, North Amityville
Date/Time: Friday, May 8, 2020 at approximately 8:15 p.m.
 
 

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a bicyclist in North Amityville last night.

 

Cindy Barrera was driving a 2001 Ford Escape southbound on New Highway, at the intersection of Walnut Road, when her vehicle collided with a bicyclist who was crossing New Highway from Walnut Road at approximately 8:15 p.m.

 

Barrera, 19, of North Amityville, and her two passengers were not injured. The bicyclist, who has not been identified, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries.

 

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
