Incident: Man Arrested for Burglarizing Lake Ronkonkoma Business

Suffolk County Police today arrested a man after he burglarized a business in Lake Ronkonkoma this morning.


Police responded to Auto Zone, located at 595 Portion Road at 2:54 a.m., after an alarm was set off in the building. Sixth Precinct Patrol Officer Andrew Derose and Canine Officer Ralph Dimasi responded and set up a perimeter. Officer Dimasi heard someone running on the roof and requested Emergency Service Section officers to respond.


Emergency Service Section Officers Thomas Russo and Christopher Davis responded to the roof. With communication with Officer Dimasi from the ground, Officer Russo and Officer Davis found a crawl space behind a Planet Fitness sign, where they found the suspect, Brian Kainzbauer hiding.


Further investigation revealed, Kainzbauer lowered himself into the store using a rope, after gaining access to the ceiling rafters.


Kainzbauer, 26, undomiciled, was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree. He will be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct, and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 9.


A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
