Incident: Two Men Arrested Following Incident Involving Gunfire
Location: Hemlock Drive, east of Manatuck Boulevard, North Bay Shore
Date/Time: Sunday, May 3, 2020 at approximately 7:55 p.m.

Suffolk County Police last night arrested two men following an incident in which gun shots were fired in North Bay Shore.


Third Precinct officers responded to Hemlock Drive, East of Manatuck Boulevard, after several 911 reports of shots fired at approximately 7:55 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found shell casings on the ground and began canvassing the area.


Two men, Jason Espinal and Jose Linarte, each in possession of a handgun, were located and arrested a short distance from the scene.


Third Squad detectives charged Espinal, 18, of 1563 Hecksher Ave., Bay Shore, with Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree. Linarte, 18, of 1561 Hecksher Ave., Bay Shore, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree. They are being held overnight at the Third Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 4.


The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential. 


A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
