Incident: Two People Arrested in SLA Inspection
Location: Sixth Precinct, Town of Brookhaven, New York
Date/Time: Wednesday, January 31, 2018
 
 

Suffolk County Police have arrested two people after conducting State Liquor Authority (SLA) inspections on January 31 in the Town of Brookhaven.

 

Due to numerous community complaints, Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers conducted SLA inspections utilizing underage police agents.  The police agents attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages from targeted businesses within the Town of Brookhaven. 

 

The following businesses did not comply with the New York State Liquor Authority and sold an alcoholic beverage to an underage police agent:

·         Sunoco, 669 Old Town Road, Terryville, NY

·         Sunoco, 200 Route 112, Port Jefferson Station, NY

 

The following people were charged with ABC Law 65.1 – Sale to Persons Under 21. They were issued Field Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip, New York on April 2, 2018.

·         Paresh Patel, 25, of 40 Piedmont Drive, Port Jefferson Station, NY

·         Tirath Ram, 61, of 655 Jayne Blvd., Port Jefferson Station, NY

 

The following business complied with the New York State Liquor Authority and refused to sell an alcoholic beverage to an underage police agent:

·         7-Eleven, 1029 Route 112, Port Jefferson Station, NY

·         Speedway, 501 Route 112, Port Jefferson Station, NY

 

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
